Brimstone Bakery

Big-city pastry, small-town charm, and a Sharon Springs stop worth building a road trip around.
One of the best parts of a Mohawk Valley road trip is finding those places that make you say, “How lucky are we that this is here?” Brimstone Bakery in Sharon Springs is one of those places.
Brimstone is one of those road trip finds that makes you feel lucky to live within driving distance. In the heart of Sharon Springs, you’ll find beautifully made pastries, thoughtful lunch, handmade cakes, and a welcoming café that makes the trip feel instantly worth it.
Chef Anthony Leberto brought his talent, creativity, and culinary background to Sharon Springs after working in New York City and San Francisco. When he arrived in Sharon Springs in 2017, he was drawn to the creative, entrepreneurial spirit of the village. In 2018, he opened Brimstone Bakery, bringing with him a love for traditional American baking and all the influences that make it feel familiar, comforting, and exciting at the same time.
Today, Brimstone produces an impressive and ever-changing selection of cookies, biscotti, brownies, bars, scones, sweet and savory pastries, layer cakes, wedding cakes, and specialty desserts. It is the kind of place where you can stop in for a pastry and coffee, pick up something beautiful to bring home, order a cake for a celebration, or turn a quick visit into lunch.
And lunch is very much part of the experience. At Brimstone Bakery’s retail space and café at 922 Chestnut Street in Sharon Springs, guests can enjoy handmade soups, salads, sandwiches, quiche, breakfast pastries, specialty coffee, and seasonal offerings. Lunch is served from 11am to 3pm, making it a perfect stop during a day trip through Sharon Springs, Cooperstown, Cherry Valley, or the surrounding countryside.

There is something special about Brimstone because it feels considered without feeling fussy. The food is beautiful, but still warm. The flavors are creative, but still comforting. It is the kind of place that makes you slow down, look around, and remember why we love exploring these small towns so much.
Brimstone also offers catering for all occasions and budgets, bringing that same handmade quality and creative point of view to gatherings, celebrations, weddings, and events.
Brimstone’s presence also extends to Cooperstown, where Brimstone Bakery at Fenimore Art Museum brings the bakery’s signature hospitality and café offerings to one of the region’s most beautiful cultural destinations.
Whether you are planning a visit to the original café in Sharon Springs or spending the day at Fenimore Art Museum in Cooperstown, Brimstone is a delicious reminder that some of the best road trip stops are closer than you think.
This is exactly what the Great MVL Road Trip is all about: discovering the places, people, and flavors that make our region feel so rich, so creative, and so worth exploring.
