Sept. 11-13 | Fall Festival of Quilts
The Mohawk Valley Quilt Club presents its Fall Festival of Quilts Sept. 11-13 at the Utica Curling Club in Whitesboro. Held every two years, the show features hundreds of quilts, vendors, demonstrations, raffles and Kids Can Sew activities. Admission is $5 per day; children 12 and under are free. Hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday. The club is located at 8300 Clark Mills Rd., Whitesboro.
Sept. 18 | Mohawk Valley Gives
The fifth annual Mohawk Valley Gives returns Sept. 18, bringing the region together to support nonprofits serving the Mohawk Valley. Hosted by the Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties and UpMobility Foundation, the event raised more than $6.5 million for hundreds of organizations last year. Early giving begins Sept. 14, with opportunities to donate to participating nonprofits, sponsor prizes or create a fundraiser.
Sept. 26-27 | Mercantile Outdoor Market
Foothills Mercantile hosts its Mercantile Outdoor Market Sept. 26-27 along Route 12 in Barneveld. The two-day market features vintage, antique, retro and artisan vendors, along with food and other regional offerings. Browse one-of-a-kind finds, meet area makers and enjoy an early fall outing in the Mohawk Valley. Hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. both days. Admission is free.
Sept. 26-27 | Sts. Cosmas and Damian Pilgrimage
St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church celebrates its 112th annual Sts. Cosmas and Damian Pilgrimage Sept. 26-27 in East Utica. The weekend includes Masses, processions, Blessing of the Sick, music by Coro Italiano and La Banda Rossa, and traditional festival foods. Sunday’s Grand Procession begins at noon. The church is located at 413-415 St. Anthony St., Utica.
Sept. 30 | Grants for Women-Owned Businesses
The Women’s Fund of Herkimer and Oneida Counties, with Baird Private Wealth Management and Griffiss Institute, is offering five $5,000 grants to eligible women-owned businesses in Herkimer and Oneida counties. Funds may support equipment, technology, consulting, training, education and marketing. Applications are due Sept. 30, with grants awarded in November. Details are available at womensfundhoc.org.
