The Forte Difference

By Erik Winberg, PT, DPT,

As a former high school athlete myself, I know how important the summer months can be for athletic development. Long before the first whistle blows in the fall, summer training helps lay the foundation for an athlete’s confidence, conditioning, strength, and overall performance. It is also a critical time to focus on injury prevention, recovery, and healthy movement patterns that support long-term success.

That philosophy is what sets FORTE Strength & Fitness apart. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, every athlete is evaluated and programmed individually based on their sport, training age, goals, injury history, and performance needs. A soccer athlete, distance runner, and football lineman should not all train the same way, and FORTE’s programming reflects those differences.

Their summer programming is designed to help athletes build strength, speed, conditioning, mobility, and overall performance in a way that supports the demands of their sport. Beyond simply getting stronger, the focus is on helping athletes move better, train smarter, and stay healthier throughout their seasons.

One of the most unique aspects of the program is the connection between FORTE Strength & Fitness and Winberg Physical Therapy, helping bridge the gap between rehabilitation, injury prevention, and athletic performance. This integrated approach gives athletes additional support, particularly those recovering from injuries or looking to reduce the risk of setbacks during their season.

Programs are offered for middle school, high school, and collegiate athletes, with training tailored to each stage of development. FORTE also offers team training, sport-specific programming, strength and conditioning, and injury prevention-focused development for both individual athletes and teams preparing for the upcoming season.

FORTE Strength & Fitness began in 2019 as a strength and conditioning program originally focused on sprinters and middle-distance athletes. Since then, the program has expanded to work with athletes across a wide range of sports who are looking to improve speed, power, endurance, and overall athletic performance heading into their competitive seasons.

Our summer training programs are designed to help athletes prepare for the demands of their sport through structured strength training, conditioning, injury prevention, and performance development. We work with athletes from a variety of sports including football, soccer, lacrosse, track & field, baseball, softball, basketball, hockey, wrestling, volleyball, and more.

One of the biggest differences in our approach is that we do not believe in a one-size-fits-all summer program. Every athlete is evaluated and programmed based on their sport, training age, goals, injury history, and performance needs. A soccer athlete, distance runner, and football lineman should not all train the same way, and our programming reflects that.

Many of our athletes also benefit from the connection between FORTE Strength & Fitness and Winberg Physical Therapy, allowing us to bridge the gap between rehabilitation, injury prevention, and high-level athletic performance.
