Dr. Nameer Haider: Bringing the Future of Medicine to Central New York

For Dr. Nameer R. Haider, exceptional medical care begins with a simple principle: patients should not have to travel far to access the latest advances in pain management, spine care, regenerative medicine and medical technology.

Triple board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Pain Medicine and Interventional Pain, Dr. Haider has devoted his career to helping patients regain function, independence and quality of life. At OMNI Pain & Precision Medicine and OMNI Surgery Center, he leads a multidisciplinary team focused on identifying the source of each patient’s condition and developing an individualized treatment plan—from noninvasive therapies to sophisticated minimally invasive procedures.

Dr. Haider’s clinical reach also extends beyond Central New York. He holds surgical privileges at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and practices in the greater Washington, D.C.–Maryland–Virginia region through the Cell Bionics Institute, his DMV-area clinic focused on advanced interventional, regenerative and precision medicine.

“We are continually asking how we can relieve pain, restore movement and help the body function more effectively while minimizing tissue disruption and recovery time,” Dr. Haider says. “Innovation is meaningful only when it improves the patient’s experience and outcome.”

A New Era of Minimally Invasive Spine Care

OMNI offers advanced alternatives for appropriately selected patients who might otherwise face extensive surgery or prolonged reliance on medication. Among these options is endoscopic spine surgery, which uses a small camera and specialized instruments to address certain sources of spinal pain and nerve compression through a very small incision.

Compared with traditional open surgery, an endoscopic approach may result in less disruption of surrounding tissue, reduced postoperative discomfort and a faster recovery for appropriately selected patients.

Dr. Haider also performs the MILD® procedure for patients with certain forms of lumbar spinal stenosis. This minimally invasive treatment removes small portions of tissue contributing to narrowing around the spinal nerves, without implants or traditional open surgery.

For selected patients with spinal instability, OMNI offers the Minuteman® procedure, a minimally invasive interspinous-interlaminar fusion, or arthrodesis. It is designed to provide stabilization through a smaller surgical approach than conventional open fusion.

Peripheral nerve stimulation, or PNS, represents another important advancement. By delivering targeted electrical stimulation near specific nerves, PNS may help qualifying patients with chronic neuropathic or musculoskeletal pain while reducing reliance on systemic medications.

These and other procedures are performed at OMNI Surgery Center, a dedicated ambulatory surgical facility in Utica with four operating rooms designed for advanced outpatient interventional pain, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, and minimally invasive spine care.

Regenerative and Restorative Medicine

OMNI is also developing a comprehensive regenerative medicine program centered on the body’s natural healing and cellular-signaling mechanisms. Available services include platelet-rich plasma, commonly known as PRP, and bone marrow aspirate concentrate, or BMAC.

One emerging application is image-guided intraosseous BMAC transplant. During this procedure, concentrated bone-marrow-derived cells and signaling components are delivered into targeted areas of bone in selected patients with painful degenerative joint or bone-marrow abnormalities. The objective is to address aspects of the underlying biological environment rather than simply suppressing symptoms.

OMNI’s precision-medicine programs also explore the potential roles of peptides and extracellular-vesicle or exosome-based products. Because many regenerative products and their proposed clinical applications remain investigational or are not FDA-approved for treating specific diseases, these therapies require careful patient selection, informed consent and compliance with applicable federal and state requirements.

Additional restorative technologies available through OMNI include RedVive® and Weber laser photobiomodulation. Photobiomodulation uses selected wavelengths of light to influence cellular processes and may be incorporated into individualized wellness, recovery and pain-management protocols when clinically appropriate.

Expanding Beyond Pain Care

OMNI’s vision extends beyond the spine and musculoskeletal system. The practice offers transcranial magnetic stimulation, or TMS, a noninvasive technology that uses focused magnetic pulses to stimulate selected regions of the brain. TMS can provide an important option for qualifying patients with certain neurological or behavioral health conditions, including FDA-cleared indications such as treatment-resistant major depression.

OMNI’s diagnostic capabilities are also advancing with the addition of a new AI-enhanced open MRI system. Its open design can provide a more comfortable experience for patients who experience claustrophobia, have difficulty tolerating a traditional enclosed scanner or require greater flexibility in positioning.

AI-assisted imaging technology can support image reconstruction, workflow efficiency and diagnostic evaluation while preserving the radiologist’s essential clinical role. By integrating advanced imaging, clinical assessment and treatment within a coordinated setting, OMNI seeks to shorten the journey from diagnosis to an individualized care plan.

An International Faculty Comes to Central New York

Dr. Haider’s commitment to advancing medicine also includes physician education, scientific exchange and professional collaboration. OMNI’s recent medical conference brought together an internationally renowned faculty of distinguished physicians, researchers and healthcare innovators.

Faculty members shared their expertise and examined developments in minimally invasive spine surgery, interventional pain management, neuromodulation, regenerative medicine, artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies. The conference positioned Central New York as a destination for advanced medical education and provided an important forum for reviewing evolving clinical evidence, exchanging ideas and building collaborations among leaders from multiple specialties.

The event reflected Dr. Haider’s belief that the future of medicine will be shaped not by any single procedure, but by the thoughtful integration of biological therapies, advanced medical devices, precision imaging, artificial intelligence and data-driven care.

“Our responsibility is to evaluate innovation critically and introduce it responsibly,” Dr. Haider says. “Patients deserve access to advanced options, but they also deserve honesty about the evidence, risks, benefits and alternatives.”

Through OMNI Pain & Precision Medicine, OMNI Surgery Center and the Cell Bionics Institute, Dr. Haider continues to expand access to advanced care in Central New York and the Washington metropolitan region. His work combines decades of clinical experience with a determined pursuit of safer, less invasive and more personalized ways to help patients move forward.
